Shawn Michaels was born in Chandler Arizona on July 22, 1965. His real name is Mike Hickenbottom. He is best known for his time in WWE, but he also made a name for himself in Verne Gange’s American Wrestling Association as well as Mid South Wrestling.

Alongside Marty Jannetty, he formed the Midnight Rockers tag team that won the AWA tag team titles from Playboy Buddy Rose and Doug Somers. In 1988, they entered the WWE, and wrestled their first match in Buffalo, New York. However, they were fired after their first day for excessive partying. They were re-signed to WWE in 1989. In the WWE, they were known simply as The Rockers, and were a highly-rated tag team, but never won the titles.
Shawn Michaels Royal Rumble
As a singles competitor, Shawn Michaels quickly won the Intercontinental title from the British Bulldog. He also won the Royal Rumble in 1995 and 1996. He was the first man to enter at #1 and win. However, the entry time and run time was significantly less than previous Royal Rumbles (the 1992 Royal Rumble won by #3 Ric Flair, for example.
The Royal Rumble victories led to title matches at Wrestlemania XI and XII respectively. These he competed against Deisel (Kevin Nash) and Bret Hart. He defeated Hart in a 60 minute ‘Iron Man’ match that went into overtime. Michaels again won the title from Bret Hart in 1997 in what became the infamous Montreal Screwjob match.

At Wrestlemania XXV, Shawn Michaels wrestled the Undertaker with his career on the line. He did so because he felt that if he could not end The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania winning streak that he had no career. He lost this match and was forced into retirement.
Shawn Michaels Theme Song
Shawn Michaels’ theme song was written by Jimmy Hart and was first used in 1992 after Michaels became a singles competitor. Initially, the song was performed by Sensational Sherri Martel, his manager and admirer at the time. After his split with Sherri, the song was reproduced with Michaels himself having performed the song. This is the only theme song Michaels has used as a singles wrestler as Marty Jannetty used their Rockers theme song when he went solo.
